Its all in the wood
As per the suggestion of some fellow readers, and friends, I have decided to post updates of "progress" pictures. I desperately want to show a before and after reveal....like right now. But since my home is still "under construction", it has been made clear that the "progress" pictures are also fun to see...and share. So, I have decided that my wise friends and readers are correct.
Let's talk about the craftsmanship of our adopted brother (our daughter's birthfather). He and his father have a business up in Carey, Idaho. They do wood floors, doors, trim. Pretty much anything with wood, and they have some beautiful work. So we ask if they would commission us some pieces for our new farmhouse chic reno.
The results....AMAZING!
There is always a place for white banister posts, and I had considered making these work, but then I just felt we needed to add a bit of farmhouse modern flare to the stairs. Considering this is what you walk into from the front door, so this feature had to have a wow factor with it.
Unwrapping the banister and beam parts |
It was a beautiful day when the beam and banister arrived. It took a week before we were able to install everything. One evening, after another particularly long day of reno, I was walking down the hallway, and when I say walk, I mean stumble, and caught myself before tumbling off and straight down into the cliff of our stairs. I thought to myself, we had better get that banister up before we have a catastrophe on our hands.

White Oak Banister with cables, stained in Classic Gray |
I am absolutely in love with our new banister. The white oak and stain are perfect with our floors and definitely gives this home its modern edge.
Just look at that amazing beam, isn't that gorgeous? The crowning jewel for our faux farmhouse. |
